Dear McGee's Middle School Families,

Welcome to McGee’s Crossroads Middle School!  I’m excited to be on the Mustangs team serving the students, staff, parents, and community as your new principal!  I have had the pleasure of meeting with each staff member, our PTA, along with parents and students at the “Meet and Greet” held in June. I also have worked with our MXMS School Improvement Team in preparing for the upcoming school year.  At McGee’s Crossroads Middle School, we focus on student learning where we provide innovative, relevant, and personalized instruction to meet the needs of our students.  Our school’s mission is aligned with Johnston County Schools’ mission: “We
will foster a flame for learning within each child that will last a lifetime. To achieve this mission, we will improve continually our service of education and meet our
community's requirements for quality.”

As your new principal, I would like to share a little about myself. I have been an educator for the past 23 years. I received my B.S. Degree in Education from Plattsburgh State University where I student taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. After receiving my M.S. Degree in Education at Penn State University, I was accepted into Teach for America which brought me to North Carolina where I taught at Parker Middle School with the Nash/Rocky Mount School System. I went on to complete my two year commitment with TFA, received the Sallie Mae Award for Outstanding First Year Teacher at Parker, and then taught five years at Fuquay-Varina Middle School. My husband and I later relocated to beautiful Johnston County where I taught another year at Smithfield-Selma High School before being accepted into the NC Principal Fellows Program at NC State. I received my Master’s Degree in School Administration and since 2001, I have served as Assistant Principal at West Clayton Elementary School and Principal at Riverwood Elementary School. It has been an incredible journey, and I feel honored to continue this journey at McGee’s Crossroads Middle School.

On a personal note, I have a wonderful husband, Kendall, who is a retired band director. Kendall taught at Parker Middle and Leesville Road Middle. We also have two children, Grayson and Holden. Grayson is a rising 6th grader who enjoys playing softball, and Holden is a rising 4th grader who enjoys sports and riding his dirt bike.

We invite you to explore our web page and see the many activities that are a part of our school community.   We also encourage you to join our PTA to further support our school and students. I look forward to an awesome 2016-2017 school year, and partnering with you to provide the best education for our students. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding your child’s education. Enjoy the remaining days of your summer!
